This is another one of those obvious scams. I must say, this one actually had some decent grammar for the most part aside from some errors compared to other ones that I usually get. I always find the stories that they come up with to be interesting though. You can almost write your own screenplay with some of these.

I think these types of e-mail spam/scams are a little too obvious, but apparently they still take people for a ride every year as people get caught up with the notion of getting millions of dollars passed down to them easily. The interesting thing about this one is that it actually uses real company names to try and pass off as a legitimate deal. This was the e-mail:

So I got this strange mail just recently that is apparently about some Internet marketing conference that is happening around here in BC which is suppose to teach people how to make money with companies like eBay and Google.

Based on some quick searches, this guy seemed to of been operating similar deals around the world and the feedback is not good. So, watch your wallets everyone. If anyone out there has happened to actually attend one of these events, maybe you’ll have an interesting story to share with the rest of us.

It seems like every other day I appear to be the winner of some lottery jackpot that I’ve never heard of. This one says that I won a pool jackpot of £880,000.00. Of course, the real goal as usual is to try and get as much personal information about you as possible. To disguise itself as a legitimate prize, they put in all this fluff in regards to terms and conditions to claim the winnings in order to make it sound legit to the unsuspecting reader. The funny thing I always found with these lottery scams is the e-mail address that you are directed to reply to. For an organization that is apparently giving away so much money, you’d think that they could afford to get their own e-mail address as oppose to using free web based ones.

To start things off for this new section, here is a very common e-mail that I normally get where someone claims that they discovered some type of hidden wealth and require your assistants to claim it. Of course, they ask for your personal information to get things rolling. While it is tempting to e-mail people like these back and tell them to go the other way, it is normally advisable to just ignore it as responding to it just tells the recipient that they have a live candidate to spam even further.
