Advertisements In Disguise In Mobile Apps

March 5th, 2014 by

I was thinking today as there was a sale on the Google Android App store and naturally I looked at some of the offers out of curiosity. The funny thing I thought was a lot of these apps we use aren’t so much to make our life easier for example but rather they are simply advertisements. In many cases I guess you can say it’s like giving companies permission to send you coupons in an effort to do business with them.

It’s interesting as when you use the Internet so many people go out of their way to try and block out all the advertisements. But when it comes to installing an app it seems like a lot of people have a different mindset for it where it’s like they want businesses to introduce them to various offers. Something to think about from a business perspective too where it’s like you don’t have to try too hard if you are already an established brand/business.

Another way to think about it I thought is that the apps are essentially like a mailing list that a lot of sites use which are often touted as one of the most valuable marketing tool as these users often purchase goods and services that gets recommended on it. Guess that just means if you don’t have an app yet for your business then time to get working on one.
