So today I bought a video card upgrade for my computer as I I felt it would increase some of my productivity where various things will get pushed out faster. I did spend quite a bit of time researching for the best prices and for the most part I believe I got just that. The bad thing about this is that now that I have this updated part I can’t help but to look at other things and wanting to upgrade them as well.
I know where this is going to end up if I just cave into it as I will pretty much end up spending over a thousand dollars and essentially would have been better off buying something completely new. I usually discipline myself by restricting myself to about one big purchase a month and at the same time placing in-front of me all the sales events that will be coming up. For example, I know for these kinds of items there are going to be events like Cyber Monday or Black Friday sales coming up. Therefore, thinking ahead for this makes me not want to simply splurge on everything right now.
This is especially good for items like monitors too as it can be so tempting to want to buy something that seems cheap now. But just thinking of what sales events are up ahead is a go way to encourage you to slow down if you truly don’t need it right away.
