Making Up Your Own Marketing Lingo

May 27th, 2013 by

Today I saw this informational for what seemed to be for a blender. The funny thing was they were saying some pretty basic stuff except they pretty much invented their own terms for it. Therefore, it makes everything sound more revolutionary. For example, it’s almost like saying you have a freezer that is essentially like every other. Except in this case you call the process arctic cooling technology or something.

As silly as it sounds, I’m inclined to say in many cases it works as these kinds of things are targeting the mass as opposed to people who are knowledgeable about it. Quite effective too for something so minor which makes you wonder if you should be investing more time in thinking up unique words and lingos for your product/service. You almost have to be like a kid again where you feel free to randomly make up any term in an effort to stand out.
